Latest Premier League News and Transfer Rumours
Here is our EPL transfers and news round-up from today’s papers.
Premier League Injuries
The season hasn’t even started yet, and here we are needing to talk about injuries.
There have been some significant developments this summer when it comes to transfers, but even those shiny new players are safe from the injury bug. Since the start of the season is now less than two weeks away, there are some important players who are out, but a few of them might still make it back in time for matchday 1.
Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney and Takehiro Tomiyasu are recovering from hamstring and knee injuries, respectively, Brentford’s new striker Igor Thiago has sustained a meniscus tear which required surgery and might keep him out until the new year, while Manchester United have also had rotten luck so far this summer. New centre-back Leny Yoro has suffered a foot injury in their first pre-season game and might miss up to three months, while Rasmus Højlund’s hamstring could keep him out for up to six weeks.

EPL Transfers
After being linked with a fair few Prem clubs, Crysencio Summerville has left Leeds to join West Ham United on a five-year deal. The reported transfer fee stands at £25 million plus add-ons. (West Ham official announcement)
Fulham have confirmed the signing of Villarreal defender Jorge Cuenca on a four-year contract, with a club option for a further year. This transfer is rumoured to have set the Cottagers back about £6.7 million. (Fulham official announcement)
And even before signing Cuenca, Fulham had broken their transfer record by paying £34 million including add-ons for Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith Rowe. He has signed a five-year deal with the west London team, who hold an option to extend for one more year. (Fulham official announcement)
Bournemouth have informed Tottenham that they will have to pay Dominic Solanke’s release clause of £65 million if they want to acquire his services this summer. The north Londoners consider this to be too expensive. (Daily Express)
After failing to seal a return to Merseyside when Liverpool attempted to transfer him earlier this summer, it seems like Anthony Gordon’s head has been turned by the prospect of playing at Anfield. CaughtOffside claims that the Englishman would be willing to “go on strike” in order to force Newcastle into selling him before the end of the transfer window.
At the same time, The Athletic reports that Newcastle want to offer Gordon a new contract as they believe that he has earned a reward for his form last season.
After rejecting two bids from Olympique Marseille for Eddie Nketiah, Arsenal have set a price for their striker: £30 million. The second of Marseille’s bids was reportedly worth £23 million, so the French side might give up on the player despite already agreeing personal terms with him. (Fabrizio Romano)
Journalist Gaston Edul tells us that PSG have submitted a formal offer for Manchester City attacker Julian Alvarez. At the moment it is unknown what the amount is, but expectations are that it is higher than the £51.2 million bid which is being prepared by Atletico Madrid.
And on this subject we find out from the Mirror that Arsenal have joined the race for Alvarez’s services, but would need to make further sales in order to bring him in. This source claims that Manchester City want £80 million for their player.
Again with Fabrizio Romano, we hear that Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is getting closer to a move to Atletico Madrid after positive talks about personal terms.
