Manchester City have made an offer to sign 26-year-old Spain midfielder Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig. This comes after the German side refused Barcelona’s initial offer for the player on the grounds that it was “ridiculous”. Olmo wants to go to Barcelona but Leipzig may be forced to listen to other offers for the player if the Catalans are not forthcoming with a reasonable offer (Foot Mercato).
If you’re wondering what Barcelona’s offer for Olmo is, it is an an initial £40 million which would be spread over four payments made every season (£10 million from 2024/25 until 2027/28) plus £20m in add-ons for him including £10 million if they win the UEFA Champions League twice by 2029. Manchester City are now firmly in the lead but Olmo’s preference could cause a change (Mundo Deportivo).
Everton and England defender Jarrad Branthwaite, 22, does not want to sign a new deal with the Toffees after his move to Manchester United failed. However, it is believed that he will consider a deal if the club are willing to offer him the same salary as United did which is a reported £160,000-a-week (Mail).
Manchester United’s English defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka, 26, wants to leave England, per reports. United are looking for a way out for the defender and West Ham United have offered them one (Talksport).
Manchester United are also considering a swap deal for Dutch defender Denzel Dumfries with Wan-Bissaka. Dumfries has long been linked to United since Erik ten Hag took over. Now that Wan-Bissaka looks set to leave the club and believes that Inter holds the best prospects for his career, the Red Devils could facilitate a deal to exchange their Englishman for Inter’s Dutchman (Mail).
Ivan Toney could remain at Brentford for one more season or at best, until January. This is because their new signings and the player who was supposed to replace the English striker, Igor Thiago, suffered a serious injury during pre-season activities (The Sun).
Chelsea want to sign Samuel Omorodion despite having signed Marc Guiu and Omari Kellyman. He is viewed as a more complete package at the club, who wanted to sign Victor Osimhen until their finances showed that it would not be a wise decision. (Ben Jacobs via X).
Chelsea are looking to let up to 12 players leave the club this summer after releasing Malang Sarr from his contract. Sarr has joined RC Lens in France after a season in Limbo at the club. The most prominent names on the Blues’ list to leave the club are Conor Gallagher, who is attracting interest from Atléti, and Ben Chilwell, who has been reported to be a misfit for Enzo Maresca’s style of football (The Sun).
