EPL Players at EURO 2024 – Day 26
Spain is the first team to qualify for this year’s EURO final after a come-from-behind win against pre-tournament favourites France. As part of our EPLNews EURO 2024 report, here is how Premier League players performed in these games.
Spain 2-1 France
It took two outstanding goals from Spain to overcome an early France lead and seal the win in Munich. After Randal Kolo Muani put a bullet header into the Spanish net within the first 10 minutes, a four-minute flurry brought two goals for the Spaniards to book their spot in the final.
Lamine Yamal, now the youngest player of the tournament, curled an audacious strike past Mike Maignan in the 21st minute and found the net via the post. Dani Olmo, not to be outdone, scored the winner in the 25th minute via a powerful shot which was deflected by Jules Kounde.
So how did Premier League players perform? No one in the French defence covered themselves in glory, and Arsenal’s Saliba was probably the weakest link there.
On the Spanish side, both Cucurella and Rodri did their jobs well, but without much to make them stand out. Apart from the Chelsea left-back, who was booed all game long by the German fans for a handball incident in the quarter-final.
Ratings
Spain: Marc Cucurella (Chelsea) – 7; Rodri (Manchester City) – 7
France: William Saliba (Arsenal) – 5
