Latest Premier League News and Transfer Rumours

Here is our EPL transfers and news round-up from today’s papers.

England in EURO Quarter-Finals

The Three Lions were lucky to secure a come-from-behind win in extra time against Slovakia after a tepid performance. They fell behind to a first half goal from Ivan Schranz, and only managed to level the scores with virtually the final kick of the game. But what a kick it was: an overhead one from Bellingham.

In the opening minute of extra time Harry Kane scored the goal that took England to the next stage, setting up a game against Switzerland on July 6 in Düsseldorf.

New Manchester United Sporting Director?

According to ESPN, United are close to reaching a settlement with Newcastle and appoint Dan Ashworth as their new sporting director.

Since February, when he let his current club know that he wants to join United, Ashworth has been on leave, and Newcastle have been holding out for £20 million to let him go. However, now the end of this saga seems to be in sight.

He will be the third big appointment since the arrival of INEOS at United, after it has been confirmed that Omar Berrada will begin his work as CEO on July 13, joining from Manchester City, and Jason Wilcox has already assumed the position of technical director after coming in from Southampton.

EPL Transfers

Nottingham Forest have announced the signing of 21-year-old midfielder Elliott Anderson from Newcastle. He joins the club on a five-year deal. The reported transfer fee stands at £35 million. (Nottingham Forest official announcement)

In the opposite direction, Odysseas Vlachodimos joined Newcastle after spending one season with Nottingham Forest. (Newcastle official announcement)

And one more sale from Newcastle. Gambia winger Yankuba Minteh joined Brighton and Hove Albion on a five-year contract. The rumoured transfer fee is £33 million. (Brighton official announcement)

Ipswich Town have brought in Omari Hutchinson from Chelsea for a club record fee after his successful loan spell at the club last season. (Ipswich Town official announcement)

Also confirmed is the departure of Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz to Juventus after five seasons. Villa are expected to receive £21 million plus Samuel Iling-Junior and Enzo Barrenechea. (Aston Villa official announcement)

The Athletic reports that Chelsea have agreed to pay Leicester £30 million for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who will sign a six-year contract at Stamford Bridge.

Italian outlet La Repubblica tells us that Manchester United are considering offering Rasmus Højlund to Napoli in an attempt to sign Victor Osimhen.

At the same time, Manchester United might miss out on PSG’s Manuel Ugarte after Liverpool have registered their interest in the midfielder. (TEAMtalk)

Speaking of Liverpool and TEAMtalk, we understand that since the Reds do not want to part ways with Jarell Quansah, they are ready to negotiate again with Newcastle for Anthony Gordon, this time considering letting £50 million and goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher go the other way.

Still from TEAMtalk, we hear that Arsenal have rejected the chance to sign Jadon Sancho from Manchester United due to his high wage package.

Arsenal centre-back William Saliba has reportedly emerged as a top target for Real Madrid and PSG this summer. (CaughtOffside). And according to GIVEMESPORT, Arsenal are considering replacing him with Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori.

Spanish publication SPORT gives us two pieces of news about Barcelona. Firstly, they are set to lose out to Liverpool in the race to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich, because the English club can offer better wages. Secondly, the Catalans are keen on signing Everton’s Amadou Onana.

Finally, one bit about Tottenham, as Football Insider claims that the club is set to trigger a one-year extension in the contract of captain Son Heung-min.
