Latest Premier League News and Transfer Rumours

Here is our EPL transfers and news round-up from today’s papers.

A New Deadline Day?

No, it’s not the end of ‘silly season’ just yet. But June 30 is still a significant date nowadays, as some Premier League clubs scramble to comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules.

There have been plenty of rumours regarding which clubs still need to get some cash in to avoid fines, points deductions or other penalties, and we know for sure that it will not be a quiet day for the likes of Aston Villa, Everton or Newcastle, while champions Manchester City could also be found breaching PSR, along with Chelsea and newcomers Leicester.

So let’s see what they come up with in order to start with a clean slate in mid-August.

EPL Transfers

Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Aston Villa youngster Omari Kellyman, with the fee rumoured to be around £19 million. This is already the second bit of business between the two clubs this week, after Ian Maatsen moved in the opposite direction. (Chelsea official announcement)

Liverpool have pulled out of a potential move for Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon. The Magpies were reluctantly ready to let him go in order to comply with PSR, but Liverpool decided to not complete a move because they were expected to let Jarell Quansah move to St. James’ Park in a part-swap deal. The Reds view the centre-back as a big part of their defence in the long run. (Daily Mail)

After seeing a refusal from Everton to lower the price on Jarrad Branthwaite, as well as UEFA blocking them from signing Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo, Manchester United have held talks with Bayern Munich‘s Matthijs de Ligt about a potential transfer this summer. (90min)

Chelsea have had a first bid for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall rejected by Leicester, with the Foxes looking to get £35 million for their player, while Chelsea were hoping to do a part-exchange deal. Talks are reported to be continuing between the two clubs. (The Telegraph)

In light of his performances for Switzerland at EURO 2024, Manchester United have contacted Bologna to ask about the availability of Dan Ndoye. (Gianluca Di Marzio)

Wilfried Zaha might be on his way back to the Premier League after only one season spent at Galatasaray. The Turkish outfit is reported to have trouble with his £300,000-per-week wages, so they are happy to let him go in a cut-price deal. However, the winger will have to also take a pay cut to return to English shores. West Ham, Wolves and former club Crystal Palace are all interested in a deal. (Mirror)

According to Football Insider, Brighton’s £33 million bid for Newcastle winger Yankuba Minteh has been accepted, terms between the Seagulls and the player have been agreed and now a medical is scheduled to take place very soon.

After announcing that he will be exiting Manchester United this summer, Raphael Varane has arrived in Como to discuss a deal with Cesc Fabregas and the club’s board. (Fabrizio Romano)

Again with Gianluca Di Marzio, we find out that AC Milan are currently in negotiations with Chelsea for the transfer of 20-year-old midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka.

Tutto Juve tells us that Tottenham are the favourites to land the signature of AS Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana this summer.

According to BBC Sport, Brentford have reached a verbal agreement with Leeds United for the transfer of Archie Gray. The fee is said to be £35 million.

Newcastle are attempting to get a deal for Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga over the line and are ready to offer Elliot Anderson as a makeweight. (Sky Sports News)

West Ham are also lining up two targets, both from France. They are monitoring the situation of Olympique Lyon defender Jake O’Brien and have contacted Metz about one of Georgia’s standout players at EURO 2024, Georges Mikautadze. (The Guardian)
