EPL Players at Copa America 2024 – Day 4

We are really getting into the thick of the tournament now, with every day boasting two games. As part of our EPLNews Copa America report, here is how Premier League players involved in the tournament performed.

USA 2-0 Bolivia

The first game saw Bolivia lose to the USA, in a game heavily dominated by the North American team.

In terms of Premier League players, there were six names involved, all for the USA, and all in the starting XI.

The best performer among them was Fulham’s Antonee Robinson, who was full of running for the entire 90 minutes, fulfilling his defensive duties and threatening consistently higher up the pitch.

The goals were scored by former Prem boy Christian Pulisic and Folarin Balogun, both before half time, which settled the game in the Americans’ favour.

Ratings

USA: Matt Turner (Nottingham Forest) – 7; Chris Richards (Crystal Palace) – 7; Tim Ream (Fulham) – 7; Antonee Robinson (Fulham) – 8.5; Tyler Adams (Bournemouth) – 7; Giovanni Reyna (Nottingham Forest) – 7.5

Bolivia: N/A

Uruguay 3-1 Panama

The Celeste turned up the style late on to down Panama in a game that saw only two EPL players involved: Liverpool’s Darwin Núñez from the start and Tottenham’s Rodrigo Bentancur as a late sub.

After taking the lead in the 16th minute through a Max Araujo goal, Uruguay continued to thoroughly dominate the proceedings for the rest of the game, but did not find that comforting second goal until five minutes before the end, when Núñez scored with a low shot from inside the box.

Matías Viña added some gloss to the scoreline six minutes later, while Panama found a consolation goal late into injury time.

Ratings

Uruguay: Darwin Núñez (Liverpool) – 7.5; Rodrigo Bentancur (Tottenham) – N/A

Panama: N/A
