Latest Premier League News and Transfer Rumours

Here is our EPL transfers and news round-up from today’s papers.

New Brighton Coach

As has been expected for the last few days, Brighton have now confirmed the appointment of Fabian Hürzeler as their new manager, after parting ways with Roberto De Zerbi at the end of last season.

Hürzeler’s previous team was German outfit St. Pauli, who he guided to promotion last season. He now joins the Seagulls and becomes the youngest-ever Premier League manager at 31 years old.

Kevin Campbell Passes Away

Former Arsenal, Nottingham Forest, Everton and West Bromwich Albion player Kevin Campbell passed away yesterday at the age of 54, after a short illness.

In total, Campbell played 325 Premier League games, scoring 83 goals. Following the end of his playing career, he worked as a TV pundit and co-commentator.

Everyone at EPLNews extends their condolences to Kevin’s family, friends and fans.

Leicester Transfer Embargo Lifted

As the Foxes are preparing to appoint a new manager, with Graham Potter being the odds-on favourite at the moment, some good news for them today in a report from Leicester Mercury.

The Premier League has reportedly lifted Leicester City’s transfer restrictions due to PSR rules’ breaches, as they have received £10 million from Chelsea as compensation for the departure of manager Enzo Maresca. This sum will be “booked as pure profit for accounting purposes”, so now Leicester might not be forced to sell players this month in order to comply with PSR rules.

They were one of 5 clubs expected to need to sell players this month, but this latest report brings that number down to 4, as Aston Villa, Everton, Newcastle and Nottingham Forest might still need to offload players.

Manchester United will attempt to sign 3 players from Benfica this summer: Joao Neves, Antonio Silva and Fredrik Aursnes. The total sum for this operation would be £228 million. (Correio da Manha)

In terms of outgoings, Jadon Sancho looks closer and closer to exiting Old Trafford this summer. Football Insider claims that Juventus have moved ahead of Borussia Dortmund in the race for his signature.

Newcastle had a £13 million bid for Ferran Torres rejected almost instantly by Barcelona. The Catalan club insist he is worth far more. (SPORT)

Chelsea forward Armando Broja was scouted by AC Milan as he played for Albania last night. The Rossoneri are seriously considering a move for him this summer. (Sky Sports Italy)

While the negotiations between Chelsea and Crystal Palace continue for the transfer of Michael Olise, the Blues have reportedly agreed personal terms with the winger. (TEAMtalk)

Al Ittihad are ready to make another big move to sign Mohamed Salah, after failing to convince Liverpool to sell him last summer. If the result is the same this time around, the Saudi club are looking at Tottenham’s Son Heung-min and Juventus’ Federico Chiesa as alternatives. (TEAMtalk)

The Mirror tells us that Valencia have made an offer of £25 million to Manchester United for the services of Mason Greenwood, who would like to stay in Spain after a successful loan spell at Getafe last season.

Lastly, a managerial rumour. Manchester City are ready to offer Pep Guardiola up to £20 million per season to convince him to sign a new contract with the club. (Mirror)
