Everton Takeover
After Vatche Manoukian and his consortium have pulled out of the race to complete the Everton takeover, the latest reports are saying that AS Roma owner Dan Friedkin has reached an agreement with the Toffees majority owner Farhad Moshiri for his 94% package.
Moshiri has now accepted Friedkin’s offer from last week, according to Sky Sports News, and is expected to grant exclusivity within the next 2 days.
Dan Friedkin, who bought AS Roma in 2020, has an estimated worth of £4.8 billion.
EPL Transfers
Adam Lallana has joined Southampton on a one-year deal after his contract with Brighton expired. The 36-year-old rejoins the first club in his career as the Saints look forward to a new adventure in the Premier League. (Southampton official announcement)
Everton captain Seamus Coleman has signed a new one-year deal to stay at the club for a 16th consecutive season. The 35-year-old is the club record holder for Premier League appearances (364), and it is already known that 2024/25 will be his last campaign with the Toffees. (Everton official announcement)
Manchester United’s opening offer to Everton for centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite is understood to have been rejected. The reported amount is disputed, as the Daily Mail says it was £45 million, while The Athletic claims it was £35 million. However, the Merseysiders are believed to value their player at £70 million, but might be pressed to sell this month in order to comply with PSR rules. Furthermore, United have reportedly agreed personal terms with Branthwaite, leaving the ball in Everton’s court. (90min)
In a further bit of Everton transfer news, it seems that Arsenal have enquired about a deal for Amadou Onana. The Toffees are understood to be looking for £50 million to let him go. (Goodison News)
Despite there being a feeling that Lille defender Leny Yoro will end up at Real Madrid, The Athletic tells us that Manchester United and Liverpool are “actively pursuing” a deal for the youngster. Lille have slapped a price tag of £84 million on Yoro.
Chelsea “have reached a broad £40 million agreement” with Aston Villa for the transfer of striker Jhon Duran. Further business between the 2 clubs could involve Ian Maatsen moving to Birmingham, as Unai Emery’s team are interested in the defender. (The Telegraph)
According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have verbally agreed to sign Brazilian teenager Pedro Lima from Sport Recife. The fee is reported to be £5.9 million, with another £2.9 million in bonuses.
The Telegraph reports that Liverpool might have an advantage over Chelsea in the race to sign Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise. His contract with the Eagles includes a £60 million release clause, but it is only valid for Champions League clubs. The Blues will not be playing UCL football in 2024/25.
