Latest Premier League News and Transfer Rumours

Here is our EPL transfers and news round-up from today’s papers.

Transfer Window Opens

The Premier League transfer window has officially opened today, as clubs are looking to improve their squads ahead of an already intriguing 2024/25 season.

EPL clubs will be able to sign players until August 30, when the window is scheduled to shut.

Silly season is officially open, enjoy!

City Ground Expansion

The home stadium of Nottingham Forest, City Ground, is now undergoing renovations to increase its capacity. The Tricky Trees are expected to be playing in front of over 30,000 spectators from the start of next season.

City Ground, the home stadium of Nottingham Forest since 1898, will be taking inspiration from one of the stadiums that hosted the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, using shipping containers to create new hospitality suites, and the big screen will also be relocated.

EPL Transfers

Newcastle have completed the signing of former Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly upon the expiration of his contract with the Cherries. Eddie Howe decided he wanted to work with Kelly again, after he was the one who brought him from Bristol City to Bournemouth in 2019. Kelly will join the Magpies on July 1 on a 5-year deal. Also official, and also on a 5-year contract, is the signing of Luis Guilherme by West Ham United. The 18-year-old midfielder joins the Hammers from Brazilian team Palmeiras and the transfer is subject to international clearance and a work permit. (West Ham official announcement)

Fabrizio Romano reports that Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran ‘wants Chelsea transfer’. Amid ongoing negotiations between Chelsea and Villa, Duran is willing to give the Blues priority over interest from Italian clubs in his signature. One stumbling block might be that Villa want players in a swap deal, while Conor Gallagher is not expected to be involved.

According to Football365, Manchester United have submitted a ‘substantial opening bid’ for Brentford striker Ivan Toney. The offer is understood to be around £59 million, which is quite a high amount considering that Toney’s contract with the Bees is only valid for one more year. On this subject, talkSPORT tells us that Brentford’s valuation of Toney has gone from £80 million to £60 million.

Italian publication Il Roma reports that Arsenal have held discussions with Napoli regarding a deal for Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian striker is no longer a target for Chelsea.

Newcastle will try to sign Chelsea’s Noni Madueke if they fail in their attempt to get Crystal Palace star Michael Olise to St. James’ Park. (CaughtOffside)

Football Insider is saying that Liverpool are open to the idea of selling Luis Diaz this summer, but only if they can make a profit on the £50 million they paid for him.

Arsenal are ready to go the distance in the race to sign Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams, as Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham and Barcelona are also interested. (CaughtOffside)

Manchester United are also looking at Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka, as it is understood that he would be available this summer. (Football Transfers)

Lastly, The Telegraph reports that Tammy Abraham might be on course to return to the Premier League. Tottenham have joined Aston Villa and West Ham in the race for his services.
