Latest Premier League News and Transfer Rumours

Here is our EPL transfers and news round-up from today’s papers.

Guinness – Premier League Partnership

After yesterday’s announcement about the licensing partnership between EPL and Football Manager, a new agreement has been made public today.

Guinness is the new official beer of the Premier League, as the famous brewery announced its first-ever global partnership in football. It is a 4-year agreement that sees Guinness become the “Official Beer of the Premier League” and Guinness 0.0 the “Official Non-Alcoholic Beer of the Premier League”.

Stephen O’Kelly, the Global Brand Director of Guinness had the following to say: “This partnership brings together two iconic global brands that are loved by communities all over the world, and we can’t wait to bring beautiful pints to the beautiful game. When the first ball is kicked off in August, Guinness will be building on its international legacy in sport with a new campaign reaching millions of fans, who follow and enjoy the Premier League in their own unique way across the globe.”

Erik ten Hag Stays

After the post-season review, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is set to remain in charge at Old Trafford and be offered a new contract.

It seems that the FA Cup triumph and the injury issues faced by the United squad over the course of the 2023/24 season were taken into consideration and tipped the scales in favour of the Dutchman staying in the dugout. Gareth Southgate, Mauricio Pochettino, Thomas Tuchel, Thomas Frank and Kieran McKenna were all considered as potential successors to ten Hag, but the club ultimately made the decision to let him continue.

Ten Hag’s dedication was reportedly admired by the United board, as well as his professionalism and the way he helped develop academy talents like Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo into first team assets.

EPL Transfers

Lloyd Kelly to Newcastle seems to be almost done. Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth has shared a clip showing the out-of-contract Bournemouth defender arriving in London for the first part of his medical.

TBR Football reports that Manchester City are ready to offload Matheus Nunes this summer. It is understood the midfielder did not live up to expectations at the Etihad after his arrival from Wolves last year.

Football365 tells us that Chelsea have agreed to pay Aston Villa £42 million for striker Jhon Duran. He arrived in Birmingham for £14 million in January 2023 and has found minutes hard to come by last season.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United target Benjamin Šeško has effectively ended speculations of a move to the Premier League by signing a new contract with RB Leipzig. (ESPN)

Also according to ESPN, Manchester United now have a 3-name list of strikers: Brentford star Ivan Toney, Lille sharpshooter Jonathan David and Bologna sensation Joshua Zirkzee. All 3 are seen as potential bargains, as David and Toney go into the final year of their respective contracts, while Zirkzee has a release clause of £34 million in his.

If he leaves Manchester City, Julian Alvarez’s preferred destination is Real Madrid, according to a report from The Athletic.

Juventus could make a move to get Jadon Sancho this summer, with Manchester United prepared to take a loss on him. The Turin club are currently in talks with Aston Villa over a £17m deal for Douglas Luiz, with Weston McKennie and Samuel Iling-Junior set to go the other way. (Daily Mail)

In another rumour concerning Manchester United, TalkSPORT says that they are reluctant to meet Everton’s demand of £70 million for Jarrad Branthwaite. At the same time, part-owner Jim Ratcliffe is confident that a deal can be done, as he believes that United are the only club genuinely interested in the centre-back.

Barcelona and Manchester City are in talks about the possibility of extending Joao Cancelo’s loan. The Portuguese full-back spent last season on loan in Catalunia. (Mundo Deportivo)
