The 7 players missing out from the initial list of 33 are: Jarrad Branthwaite (Everton), Jack Grealish (Manchester City), Curtis Jones (Liverpool), James Maddison (Tottenham), Harry Maguire (Manchester United), Jarell Quansah (Liverpool), James Trafford (Burnley)

Vote on VAR

At the Annual General Meeting (AGM) yesterday, Premier League clubs voted in favour of keeping VAR, with a reported majority of 19-1. The only club voting against the system was Wolverhampton, who were the ones proposing the motion to get rid of VAR last month.

The Premier League have agreed to continue improving the inner workings of VAR ahead of next season, hoping that the introduction of the semi-automated offside system will help matters.

EPL Announcement

After yesterday’s AGM, Premier League clubs have agreed to test an alternative financial system for next season, stopping short of committing fully to the idea.

The new system is meant to ensure that English clubs remain financially competitive in the UEFA landscape, but comply with any and all financial limitations.

You can read the entire official statement by clicking here.

New Season

Yesterday’s AGM also signalled the official start of the new 2024/25 season.

Newly-promoted clubs Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Southampton have formally taken their place in the Premier League.

In about 10 days’ time we will find out what the schedule for this season is. After that all that remains is to get excited about August!

But until then we can keep looking at…

EPL Transfers

Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer, after his contract with Fulham has come to an end. His contract with Chelsea will be for 4 years. Click here for a transcript of his first full interview with the Blues’ website.

Argentine outlet TyC Sports is saying that Julián Álvarez is growing frustrated with his current squad role with Manchester City. Because of this, Chelsea are readying a bid for the World Cup winner, among interest from Atletico Madrid and PSG. City do not want to sell him, but have placed a price tag on £68 million on the player.

According to Rudy Galetti, the Saudi Public Investment Fund, the entity behind many teams in the Saudi Pro League, have added Liverpool centre-back Virgil van Dijk to a list of transfer targets for this summer, along with Manchester City duo Bernardo Silva and Ederson.

Speaking of Liverpool and an Ederson, the Reds are close to a personal terms agreement with Atalanta midfielder Ederson, who they have been monitoring for a number of months, according to Sports Zone. Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola is also saying that the Italian club has received a £38.3 million offer for the player from Liverpool.

Turkish publication Fotomac reports that Galatasaray have had an offer of £8.5 million for Manchester United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka rejected.

Due to Arsenal’s bid for Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi being rejected, the Gunners will now rival Manchester United for the signature of Benfica’s Joao Neves. (Record)

Newcastle are in advanced talks with Lloyd Kelly, whose Bournemouth contract is almost up. The free agent is also courted by Tottenham, West Ham, Atletico Madrid and AS Roma. (Newcastle Chronicle)

After securing Premier League promotion with Leicester, Wilfred Ndidi might not play in England this coming season, as he is on Barcelona’s radar. His contract expires this month. (SPORT)
