Crystal Palace 2023/24 Premier League Season Review
Crystal Palace have finished 10th in the EPL table after a late-season resurgence under new manager Oliver Glasner. The 49 points accumulated this term represent a joint-highest total for the club in the Premier League. This is an improvement over the 2022/23 season, when they placed 11th, gaining 45 points.
In this Crystal Palace season review we will be looking at the main reasons for their progress, as well as what can be expected from them in the next campaign.
Individual Performances
There were many Palace players who performed above expectations this season.
Michael Olise was arguably their star man, having a hand in 16 EPL goals (10G, 6A), with 5 of those contributions coming in the last 3 games of the campaign.
Some of his goals were truly spectacular, with his strike against Luton probably the best of the bunch.

Eberechi Eze was another bright light for the Eagles, as he notched 11 goals and 4 assists in 27 Premier League appearances. Both him and Olise are reportedly on the radars of many big clubs this summer thanks to their performances.
Striker Jean-Philippe Mateta scored 19 goals in 39 appearances in all competitions, including 10 in the last 8 EPL games, to round off a campaign in which he was the best example of progression under a new manager.
But perhaps the player that most pleased the fanbase with his emergence was January transfer Adam Wharton. Brought in from Blackburn Rovers for a reported £22 million fee, he quickly imposed himself as a starter in the ‘number 6’ role. The 20-year-old provided great protection to the defensive line and performed like a much more experienced player.
New Manager Bounce
When Roy Hodgson left in February, the Eagles were sitting in 15th, just 5 points above the drop zone. Palace replaced him with Austrian manager Oliver Glasner, who had most recently been in charge of Eintracht Frankfurt.
Glasner guided Palace to 7 wins in the remaining 13 games of the league season, including an unbeaten run for the last 6 matches (W5, D1).
Glasner’s approach put the spotlight on the attack, with the last 6 games seeing them score 19 goals on the way to famous wins over Liverpool (1-0 at Anfield) and Manchester United (4-0 at Selhurst Park).
Looking Ahead
The last couple of months of 2023/24 brought a wave of optimism among the Palace supporters, and understandably so.
With Glasner in charge, and if they can add some experience to the squad while also keeping talents like Eze, Wharton and Olise on the books, we firmly believe that Crystal Palace could mount a challenge for the European places next season.
