Manchester City 2023/24 Premier League Season Review
It is safe to say that this season’s Premier League went according to plan for Manchester City. They have secured a 4th consecutive title, seeing off the threat of Arsenal with a win on the final day, and achieved what no other team has done before.
Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola won the Manager of the Season award and Phil Foden took home the award for Player of the Season.
So let’s delve into a Manchester City season review, based on their Premier League performance.
Individual Performances
This was a standout campaign for plenty of City players. Josko Gvardiol took to the EPL like a fish to water, showing in most instances that the gamble to make him the most expensive defender ever paid off for Guardiola.
Bernardo Silva was as brilliant as ever, directly contributing 15 goals (6G, 9A) to the cause. Haaland scored 27 goals to land the Golden Boot for the second season running. Manuel Akanji had a great year, just like Nathan Ake, Julian Alvarez and plenty of others.
Kevin De Bruyne, whose injury problems this season limited him to just 18 appearances, still scored 4 and assisted 10, while looking as imperious as ever when on the pitch.
Apart from Foden, City’s best player was probably Rodri. He showed just how important he is to the side by missing 3 games in winter through suspension. City lost all of them.
Managerial Brilliance
Pep Guardiola has now secured 6 Premier League trophies in 7 seasons, which is a consistency level not seen since the days of Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.
The Catalan has now coached for 15 seasons in senior football, and won a league title in 12 of them, across spells in charge of Barcelona, Bayern Munich and City.
While he has admitted to be closer to the end of his spell at City than the beginning, it is still easy to imagine him leading his team to yet another title next season.
Consistency Is the Key
Speaking of the 6 titles in 7 years mentioned earlier, here’s an eye-opening stat.
Kevin De Bruyne, Ederson, Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva, John Stones and Kyle Walker have been part of every single title that City have won since Pep Guardiola’s arrival.
Also, Rodri is now on a 50-game unbeaten run in the Premier League. And his levels this season have been unbelievable.

Looking Ahead
City might become the first English team to secure back-to-back domestic doubles, after winning the FA Cup and EPL title last season, and still having the FA Cup final to look forward to on Saturday.
It is hard to imagine what it will take for Manchester City’s dominance to end soon, but they do have the 115 Profit and Sustainability Rules charges hanging over them.
However, with Pep Guardiola at the helm, we can probably expect more on-field dominance in the near future.
