Wolves vs Crystal Palace Report

Scorers: Cunha 68’; Olise 26’, Mateta 28’, Eze 73’

Red card: Ahamada 87’

Crystal Palace continued their impressive late-season form under Oliver Glasner, securing a dominant 3-1 victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.

This win marks Palace’s fifth in their last six Premier League matches, propelling them into a comfortable mid-table position and further away from the relegation scare earlier in the season.

Olise Sparks Palace to Victory

Michael Olise, the rising star for Palace, was once again a pivotal figure, opening the scoring with a spectacular strike.

His effort from the edge of the box on 26 minutes marked yet another highlight in a series of excellent performances. Olise’s goal energised the game after a slow start, with his blend of skill and shooting prowess on full display.

Moments after his opening goal, Olise’s quick feet enabled Nathaniel Clyne to deliver a powerful volley that led to Jean-Philippe Mateta doubling Palace’s advantage.

This one-two punch within minutes showcased Palace’s lethal counter-attacking ability, leaving Wolves to reel under the sudden pressure.

Wolves’ Struggle and Brief Hope

Wolves struggled to find a rhythm but nearly pulled one back before the half-time break when Matt Doherty’s header struck the bar.

This moment of hope was a brief respite in an otherwise disappointing display from a side that had earlier flirted with European qualification hopes.

In the second half, Wolves thought they had found a lifeline when Matheus Cunha’s goal briefly stood, only for VAR to reverse the decision for offside, adding to Wolves’ frustrations with technology this season.

Olise and Eze Seal the Deal

Despite being down to ten men late in the game due to Naouirou Ahamada’s dismissal, Palace’s lead was extended by Eberechi Eze, who capitalised on another assist from Olise.

Eze’s smooth finish past goalkeeper Daniel Bentley in the 71st minute underscored the effective partnership developing between him and Olise.

The victory not only sees Crystal Palace move up the table, but also highlights their potential under Glasner’s stewardship.

With an unbeaten run now extended to six games, Palace look to finish the season on a high note, contrasting sharply with a Wolves team that has only one win in their last ten games.

The match at Molineux was a clear demonstration of Palace’s resurgence, promising optimism for their future endeavours in the league.
