Bournemouth vs Brighton Report
Scorers: Senesi 13’, Unal 52’, Kluivert 87’
Bournemouth set a new club record for the most points in a single Premier League campaign with a comprehensive 3-0 victory against Brighton & Hove Albion.
The win, which takes their total to 48 points, lifts the Cherries into the top-half of the table, indicating a strong finish to the season.
Senesi Sets the Tone
Despite neither side having much at stake in terms of the top and bottom of the table, Bournemouth had their eyes on a record PL points total.
The hosts’ early pressure paid off in the 15th minute when Brighton failed to clear a Lewis Cook corner, allowing Marcos Senesi to react and head home from close range.
Brighton‘s Facundo Buonanotte almost capitalised on a quick counter, but his near-post effort was saved by Mark Travers.
Missed Opportunities
Bournemouth’s Alex Scott set up a great chance for Enes Ünal, who shockingly dragged his shot wide despite having plenty of space. Justin Kluivert also had a golden opportunity to score but ended up hitting the side netting.
However, Bournemouth soon doubled their lead when Ünal headed in a Dango Ouattara cross to give the Cherries a two-goal cushion.
Brighton’s Lacklustre Response
Brighton struggled to create chances, with Julio Enciso providing one of the few bright spots. His long-range effort narrowly missed, failing to test Bournemouth’s defence.
As Bournemouth held firm, Brighton’s European ambitions took another hit, and the home side capitalised on their opponents’ lacklustre performance.
Kluivert Seals the Deal
Bournemouth’s defence was disciplined, managing to keep a clean sheet despite their previous record of only three clean sheets in 16 PL games. Kluivert scored a late third goal to secure the win and equal Bournemouth’s top-flight record of six consecutive home games without defeat.
The Cherries now have a realistic shot at a top-half finish, while Brighton’s six-match winless run has made their European ambitions challenging.
Bournemouth’s record-breaking season continues to impress, as they inch closer to their best ever PL finish. The Cherries’ resilience and strong form at home set them on a positive trajectory, while Brighton’s struggles extend into the season’s final stretch.
Both teams have distinct challenges ahead, but Bournemouth’s remarkable turnaround shows the rest of the league their growth and determination.
