Arsenal vs Chelsea Report
Scorers: Trossard 4’, White 52’, 70’, Havertz 57’, 65’
Arsenal surged to a commanding 5-0 victory over Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium, with two goals each from Kai Havertz and Ben White, extending their Premier League lead and solidifying their dominant record in recent league head-to-heads against the Blues.
The Gunners’ emphatic win puts them three points clear at the top of the table, though Liverpool and City are yet to play their own fixtures this midweek.
Early Arsenal Dominance
Following their morale-boosting victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Arsenal capitalised on their momentum to dominate their London rivals from the outset.
A driving run from Declan Rice released Leandro Trossard in the box, who fired in a low shot at the near post, giving Arsenal a dream start within the first four minutes.
Petrović’s Heroics and Arsenal’s Second Goal
Despite early pressure from Arsenal, Chelsea’s goalkeeper Đorđe Petrović made some excellent saves to keep the scoreline close, denying Kai Havertz and Trossard.
Meanwhile, Chelsea’s best chance in the first half came from Nicolas Jackson, whose effort deflected off the post.
However, Arsenal’s pressure eventually paid off in the 52nd minute when Ben White reacted to a loose ball in the box, curling it into the far corner for his third goal of the season.
Arsenal’s Offensive Surge
Arsenal’s control continued in the second half, with Petrović again doing his best to keep Chelsea in the game. However, Arsenal’s relentless attack proved too much, with Havertz doubling the lead by holding off Marc Cucurella to slot home from an Ødegaard assist.
Havertz added his second of the night, finishing expertly after receiving a pass from Bukayo Saka, effectively ending any hopes of a Chelsea comeback.
White’s Fortuitous Goal Seals the Win
Arsenal’s fifth goal came courtesy of Ben White’s cross-cum-shot, which looped into the far corner, sealing the comprehensive victory.
From there, Mikel Arteta could afford to rest key players ahead of the North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur, with his team coasting through the final stages.
Arsenal’s Pursuit of the Title
This resounding win highlights Arsenal’s title credentials and extends their dominance against Chelsea in recent league meetings, with just one defeat in the last nine (W6, D2).
For Chelsea, it is a harsh reality check, this heavy defeat marking yet another setback in what has been a challenging season. Arsenal, however, continue to build momentum and maintain their chase for their first Premier League title since 2004.
