Crystal Palace vs West Ham Report

Scorers: Olise 7’, Eze 16’, Emerson 20’ (OG), Mateta 31’, 64’; Antonio 40’, Mitchell 89’ (OG)

Crystal Palace delivered a five-star first-half performance to crush West Ham United 5-2 at Selhurst Park, marking the Eagles’ first back-to-back Premier League wins of the season.

The result dealt a significant blow to West Ham‘s European aspirations while ensuring Crystal Palace’s continued climb up the PL table.

Palace Dominate Early with Fast-Paced Start

After their thrilling victory at Anfield last weekend, Palace entered the game brimming with confidence and took control from the outset. The early pressure paid off with Michael Olise nodding in Joachim Andersen’s cross within seven minutes, breaking West Ham’s hopes for a clean sheet.

Palace’s relentless attack led to a stunning goal by Eberechi Eze, who delivered a spectacular bicycle kick after Fabiański’s initial save from Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Crystal Palace’s Rampage Continues

The Eagles maintained their attacking momentum, quickly adding two more goals before the half-hour mark. Emerson’s own goal from a Will Hughes cross extended Palace’s lead, followed by Mateta’s composed finish after a well-timed pass from Olise.

This 4-0 deficit was the earliest a David Moyes team had found themselves trailing by that margin, illustrating the dominance of Crystal Palace in the first half.

West Ham’s Struggles and Late Consolation

West Ham managed to find a response just before halftime, with Michail Antonio scoring from close range, but it did little to shift the momentum.

After the break, Palace continued their dominance, with Eze showcasing his skill and flair by setting up Mateta for his second goal of the game. The intensity of the match cooled down in the latter stages, but West Ham secured a bizarre late consolation when Tyrick Mitchell’s back-pass was mishandled by Dean Henderson, allowing the ball to roll into the net.

Impact and Looking Forward

Crystal Palace’s emphatic win eases any lingering relegation concerns while providing a morale boost heading into the final stretch of the season. In contrast, West Ham’s hopes of a strong finish to the season suffered a setback, especially with upcoming fixtures against title contenders Liverpool and Manchester City.

The defeat highlights the challenges facing Moyes’ squad as they navigate a challenging run-in to maintain their European ambitions.
