FPL Top Picks for Gameweek 32
Raise your hand if you had a great week 31.
That’s right. We refuse to believe any FPL manager worth his salt had none of Phil Foden, Cole Palmer, Alejandro Garnacho, Alexis Mac Allister or Alexander Isak.
These players were in the top ten of the most selected players for a reason, which they showed against their opponents.
With the euphoria from a successful game week still in the air, let us now take a look at the upcoming gameweek 32.
We will analyse the games and suggest two options that you must have in your FPL squad to succeed.
Gameweek Analysis
Week 32 being upon us means the Premier League is wrapping up. As football fans, it leaves a sour taste in our mouths to think that we will not have club football for months.
As an FPL manager, this is a hectic period.
Many managers will relate to the rush of trying to correct errors from game weeks past using carefully curated teams. The bottlenecks of blank game weeks and rotations, especially among teams still in domestic (FA Cup) and European competition are getting tighter.
Managers are panicking because they are not sure which of their players will be rested to prioritise these other competitions.
Luckily, game week 32 is a full game week. All the teams will duke it out on Saturday and Sunday. Here is the full fixtures list.
The two most obvious games to pick players from are Sheffield United vs Chelsea and Crystal Palace vs Manchester City. The Blues’ Cole Palmer is one of the hottest assets in the game at the moment, while City have players who can choose any day of the week to turn up. In gameweek 31, it was Phil Foden. Against Palace, he is still a viable option.
Fulham vs Newcastle United is another interesting match. Both teams are not too far apart on the league table and have shown great attacking aptitude in recent weeks. This might be the best match of the week in terms of entertainment value and points return, with Rodrigo Muniz (Fulham) and Alexander Isak (Newcastle) both gearing to show what they can do.
Luton Town vs AFC Bournemouth is one that should get managers rubbing their palms together. The reverse fixture took place in March due to rescheduling, but both teams produced a spectacle. 4 – 3 it ended, with six different scorers, including Dominic Solanke (Bournemouth) and Ross Barkley (Luton).
Going by the fixture line up, our advice is that managers should prioritise players from Chelsea, Fulham, Newcastle, Bournemouth and Tottenham Hotspur.
Best FPL Players for Week 32
Cole Palmer (£6.0m) – Chelsea
Cole Palmer is the most transferred-in player for gameweek 32 and rightfully so. His hattrick to send Manchester United fans down a spiral was unexpected but unsurprising.
The midfielder is Chelsea’s best player this season and the best FPL asset that the Blues have to offer. He is never going to sit on the bench again this season except if he suffers an injury, which means he will be in the top five most selected players for the rest of the season.
At a mouthwatering price of just £6.0m compared to the likes of Phil Foden, James Maddison, Son Heung-Min, Mohamed Salah, Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva, the former Manchester City player can also pass for a great differential pick.
As usual, we always look at future game weeks when making these suggestions.
Palmer and Chelsea have Everton next, followed by Brighton and Hove Albion. While these games are not sure wins for Chelsea thanks to their defensive frailty, Palmer’s heavy involvement in attack means that after he is done amassing points for managers against Sheffield United on week 32, he will reward those who stick with him for week 33 and 34 respectively.
More importantly, Palmer is our pick for the game week 32 captaincy.
Mohamed Salah (£13.4m) – Liverpool
Mohamed Salah may not have done much last week because of Jürgen Klopp’s rotation and instructions to the player not to overexert himself, but they are facing Manchester United in week 32.
The reverse fixture did not go their way and may not go their way at Old Trafford in week 32, but it would be wrong to count Salah out if he is fit whenever Liverpool are facing United.
Salah has 17 goal contributions against United (13 goals and four assists) in 14 games, which is more than enough reason to break the bank for him in week 32.
Salah is already a mainstay in many managers’ teams so this piece is almost like a sermon being delivered to the choir. For those who are wondering if it will be worth it, you can take a look at Liverpool’s future schedules.
They have Crystal Palace, Fulham and Everton on the way. These are some of the Egyptians favourite opponents. With Erling Haaland having slowed down and it being a long time since he won the Premier League Golden Boot, Salah will be determined as ever to get on the scoresheet against these teams.
