Manchester City Football Club: The Sky Blue Serial Winners
Club History
Manchester City Football Club, commonly known as Man City, was founded in 1880 as St. Mark’s (West Gorton), before becoming Ardwick Association Football Club in 1887 and finally Manchester City in 1894.
The club’s early years were marked by moderate success, including winning the Second Division in the 1898-99 season, which propelled them into the First Division.
However, it wasn’t until the 20th century that City truly began to establish itself as a force in English football. The club won its first major trophy, the FA Cup, in 1904, a landmark achievement that set the stage for future successes.
Throughout their history, Manchester City have experienced various highs and lows, including periods of significant achievement and times of financial and competitive struggles. The club’s fortunes took a dramatic turn in 2008 when it was acquired by the Abu Dhabi United Group.
This takeover transformed City into one of the wealthiest and most successful clubs in the world. Since then, Manchester City have enjoyed a period of unprecedented success, winning multiple Premier League titles, FA Cups, and League Cups, as well as a maiden UEFA Champions League trophy.
Under the management of Pep Guardiola, City have developed a reputation for playing attractive, attacking football and have set numerous records, including becoming the first Premier League team to reach 100 points in a single season (2017-18).
